Airwolf on NES is one of those weird cases where there are two totally different games with the same name. This one's the Japanese version by Kyugo Boueki—way better than the clunky Acclaim release, if you ask me.
You're basically flying the iconic chopper from the 80s show, blasting through waves of enemy jets and tanks. The controls feel tight for an NES shooter, and the music nails that synth-heavy action vibe. First mission throws you right into the chaos—dodging missiles while trying to line up shots on moving targets. Took me a few tries to get the hang of the weapon switching, but once it clicks, you feel like a total gunship badass.
Just don't expect deep storytelling. It's pure arcade-style destruction with a sweet retro aesthetic.
