Aidyn Chronicles - The First Mage (Europe) game

Alright, so Aidyn Chronicles is one of those N64 RPGs that flew under the radar but has this weird, janky charm. You start off as this young mage-in-training, and right away, the game throws you into this massive, kinda clunky open world where you’re stumbling through forests, talking to NPCs with questionable voice acting, and getting into turn-based fights that feel like a mix of old-school D&D and someone’s ambitious but slightly unfinished passion project.

The combat’s slow—like, really slow—but there’s something satisfying about the way you have to position your party and time spells. And yeah, the graphics haven’t aged great, but the world’s got this weirdly immersive vibe once you get past the stiff animations. Just don’t expect Skyrim-level polish—this is pure late-’90s N64 ambition, for better or worse.

If you can handle the quirks, there’s a surprisingly deep story buried under all the rough edges. It’s the kind of game you either bounce off hard or end up weirdly obsessed with.
