Aerostar is one of those Game Boy shooters that feels like it should’ve gotten more love. You’re piloting this little fighter jet from a top-down view, weaving through enemy fire and dodging terrain—kinda like if someone mashed up 1942 with a tiny, monochrome version of After Burner.
At first, it seems simple: shoot the bad guys, don’t crash. But then the screen starts scrolling faster, bullets come from every angle, and suddenly you’re sweating over those chunky D-pad inputs. The music’s got that classic Game Boy chiptune energy too—just enough to keep you hyped when you barely scrape through a level.
It’s not the deepest shooter out there, but for a handheld title from 1991, it’s surprisingly intense. You’ll probably restart the first stage a few times before it clicks.
