About Aerogauge (j) (demo)
AeroGauge is a 1997 Nintendo 64 racing game developed and published by Ascii Corporation. It arrived during a period when the N64 library was expanding with various arcade style experiences, offering a specific take on the futuristic racer genre that was popular at the time.
You pilot a hovering anti gravity craft, competing in high speed races across twisting tracks that often loop and corkscrew through the air. The main objective is straightforward: finish in first place. Two mechanics define the gameplay. First, your craft can perform a quick lateral dash to the left or right, which is essential for sideswiping opponents or making last second corrections on narrow pathways. Second, you collect power ups scattered on the track that provide temporary boosts or offensive capabilities, like missiles to disrupt other racers. The pacing is relentless, and the controls demand precision to navigate the sharp turns and avoid falling off the track edges. It feels like a constant, tense battle for control at blistering speeds.
