AeroGauge (J) (Demo) game

Man, AeroGauge on the N64 is one of those weird, janky-but-cool racing games that feels like it came straight out of a late-night anime. You’ve got these hovercraft things that handle like shopping carts on ice at first—until you realize the trick is to tap the boost at just the right moment to slide around corners without faceplanting into a wall.

The demo’s got a couple of tracks that look like someone took a regular raceway and twisted it into a pretzel, complete with loops and jumps that’ll send you flying if you’re not careful. The music’s got that classic late-’90s techno vibe, too—kinda cheesy, but it weirdly fits the whole "future racing but also your console can barely render it" aesthetic.

It’s not the smoothest racer out there, but there’s something oddly satisfying about finally nailing a clean lap after wiping out half a dozen times. Definitely a niche pick, but if you’re into obscure N64 stuff, it’s a fun little time capsule.
