Man, AeroFighters Assault on N64 is one of those underrated flight combat games that just nails the feeling of being in a dogfight. You jump straight into the cockpit, pick from a handful of surprisingly distinct jets (I always went for the F-22 first), and then it’s all about barrel rolls and missile locks over cities, deserts, and oceans.
The controls take a minute to get used to—this isn’t arcade-simple, but once you figure out the throttle and targeting, weaving through canyon runs or dodging flak fire feels awesome. The campaign’s got this cheesy but fun military vibe, and some missions actually make you think about positioning instead of just blasting everything. Not gonna lie, the graphics are a bit rough now, but back in the day? Chasing down bombers at sunset while your radar’s screaming was peak N64 adrenaline.
If you’ve got a soft spot for late-’90s flight games, this one’s a solid time capsule.
