About Adventures Of Tom Sawyer
I first played Adventures of Tom Sawyer on the NES back in 1989. It was developed by Winkysoft and published by SETA. For an NES title from that period, it stood out because it was based on the Mark Twain novel, though it took some pretty big liberties with the story.
You control Tom Sawyer himself, running and jumping through six side scrolling stages. Your main goal is to rescue Becky Thatcher from the villain, Injun Joe. You attack enemies by throwing marbles, and you can find other weapons like slingshots for more power. The game is known for its screen by screen exploration, where you often need to find keys to unlock doors and progress. It is a fairly difficult game with some unforgiving platforming sections and aggressive enemies. Playing it feels like a challenging, straightforward run and gun adventure from the 8 bit era.
