Ever played a game where you fight a giant alligator in the Mississippi River? Yeah, Adventures of Tom Sawyer on NES is that kind of weird. It starts off with Tom dreaming—because of course he is—and suddenly you're jumping through six stages full of bizarre enemies like ghosts, a flying cloud dude, and even a dragon. Because why not?
It's one of those old-school platformers where you toss rocks (or marbles?) at everything that moves, including an octopus that definitely doesn’t belong in a river. The haunted house level is a trip, too—just when you think it can’t get stranger, it throws ghouls at you. The whole thing feels like someone took Mark Twain’s book and ran it through an 8-bit fever dream.
Not the hardest NES game out there, but good luck figuring out some of those enemy patterns on your first try.
