Remember those old Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons? This NES game throws you right into their weird little world. Boris and Natasha—being their usual sneaky selves—dress up as museum guards and swipe a bunch of artifacts. Naturally, it’s up to Rocky and Bullwinkle to chase them down across Frostbite Falls.
You switch between the moose and the squirrel, which is fun because Bullwinkle’s just kind of a tank who plows through stuff, while Rocky’s way faster and can actually jump properly. The levels are packed with that same goofy humor from the show—expect terrible puns, fourth-wall breaks, and random appearances from Mr. Peabody or Dudley Do-Right in bonus rounds. Graphics are bright and cartoony for an NES game, though don’t expect miracles.
It’s not the deepest platformer, but if you grew up with these characters, there’s something weirdly charming about controlling them while they bumble through Boris’s traps. Just watch out for those Moon Men—they’re as bizarre here as they were on TV.
