I first played Adventures of Lolo on my Game Boy in 1994, a time when puzzle games were a staple of portable play. It was developed by HAL Laboratory, the same people behind Kirby, and it felt right at home on the small screen. You don't see many games like this anymore, where the challenge comes from thinking your way through a single room.

You control Lolo, a round blue hero, navigating through a series of discrete puzzle rooms. Your goal is to collect all the heart framers in a room to open a treasure chest and proceed. The core mechanics involve pushing blocks to create paths, avoiding or outsmarting enemies that can't be attacked directly, and sometimes using a shot ability to temporarily turn foes into eggs you can push. The pacing is deliberate; you can't rush. Each screen is a self contained logic problem that requires careful observation and planning. Solving a particularly tough room gives a quiet, satisfying sense of accomplishment.
