You move Riki from left to right across a series of single screen areas, jumping over pits and attacking a constant stream of enemies like pterodactyls and cavemen. Your main objective is to survive through four distinct worlds, each culminating in a boss fight. Along the way, you collect power ups that change your projectile weapon, upgrading from simple axes to a wide spreading superfire shot. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all directions, and the difficulty escalates quickly, especially in the final world which removes checkpoints entirely.
