Adventures of Dino Riki is one of those NES games that looks cute but doesn’t hold back. You play as a tiny caveman kid running and jumping through prehistoric landscapes, tossing fireballs and axes at everything from pterodactyls to weird floating heads. The first level eases you in with some basic enemies, but by the ruined city stage, things get chaotic—projectiles everywhere, no safe spots.
What’s cool is how the weapons change up your strategy. Axes hit hard but move slow, boomerangs are weirdly satisfying to aim, and the spread-shot turns you into a walking flamethrower. Just don’t get too comfortable—world four is brutal, no checkpoints, and those bosses? They don’t mess around. It’s the kind of game where you’ll die a lot, but somehow keep hitting continue anyway.
