Hillsfar's one of those NES RPGs that doesn't hold your hand—you wake up in this grimy city where the guards will shove you around if you even look at them wrong. At first I just wandered the streets trying not to get arrested, but then you realize the whole place runs on shady back-alley deals and secret guilds. The combat's clunky by today's standards, but there's something weirdly satisfying about slowly building up your thief or fighter while the city's factions quietly try to use you as a pawn.
