Okay, so Dragons of Flame on the NES is one of those early D&D adaptations that feels a little rough around the edges but still has that old-school charm. You start off picking from classic classes—fighter, cleric, thief—and then get tossed into this side-scrolling action RPG hybrid where you’re slashing skeletons and dodging traps. The controls take some getting used to (why does jumping feel so stiff?), but once you adjust, there’s something satisfying about clearing rooms of enemies and hunting for hidden loot.

It’s based on the Dragonlance novels, so if you’re into that lore, you’ll recognize characters like Tanis and Raistlin popping up. The graphics are pretty basic, even for NES standards, but the music’s got that nostalgic chiptune vibe. Just don’t expect a deep RPG experience—it’s more of a hack-and-slash with light dungeon crawling. And yeah, the Japanese version has some minor differences, but nothing game-changing.

Definitely a niche pick for retro fans or D&D completists.
