Dragon Strike came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Westwood Associates. It was part of that wave of late 80s and early 90s NES games trying to translate tabletop fantasy into a video game format, sitting alongside other dungeon crawlers and action titles of the era.

You control a knight riding a metallic dragon, flying through a series of overhead-view screens. Your main goal is to defeat the evil dragon riders and their monstrous allies, like manticores and beholders, across various levels. You attack by diving close to enemies to use your dragon's claws or by firing its recharging magical breath weapon from a distance; you also have a magic orb that acts as a radar to help you navigate. The game requires careful positioning to avoid ground-based archers and enemy counterattacks, making it a challenging experience where a single mistake can be costly. It feels like a tense, high-altitude duel where every dive and shot matters.
