Ocean Software released The Addams Family for the Game Boy in 1992. It was one of many platformers from that era, a time when developers frequently adapted movies into side scrolling adventures. This version, based on the film, offered a portable take on the spooky mansion.
You control Gomez Addams, navigating the family mansion room by room. Your main goal is to rescue each family member from the clutches of the lawyer, Tully Alford. You jump across chandeliers, avoid traps, and defeat enemies by stomping on them. A key mechanic involves finding and using special items, like a key to unlock new areas. The game is methodical; you explore each screen thoroughly, often backtracking to find a missed path. It can be quite difficult, with precise jumps required over instant death pits.
