Action in New York is basically Contra with a jetpack—which, honestly, makes everything way more chaotic in the best way. You’re still blasting through waves of enemies, but now you can zip around the screen, dodging bullets from above or below. The controls take a second to get used to (that jetpack isn’t as floaty as you’d think), but once it clicks, you’ll be weaving through enemy fire like a pro.

It’s got that same satisfying run-and-gun feel, just with a little extra vertical freedom. And yeah, the difficulty spikes hard after the first few levels—classic NES stuff. If you liked Contra but wished you could fly, this one’s a no-brainer.
