Abadox is one of those NES games that looks cool until you actually play it—then it just murders you over and over. You start off as this lone space soldier diving into a giant alien’s body (yeah, seriously), blasting through intestines and weird organic horrors. The first level’s vertical, so you’re flying upward dodging teeth and eyeballs, and then suddenly it switches to side-scrolling chaos.
It’s brutal. Enemies come from everywhere, bullets fill the screen, and power-ups feel rare. I remember thinking the graphics were kinda gross in a cool way—lots of pulsating flesh and creepy bio-mechanical stuff—but good luck enjoying it when you’re dying every 30 seconds. If you’re into punishing shooters, this one’s a relic worth suffering through. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.
