About A Bug's Life (g)
A Bug's Life came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed by Traveller's Tales. It was one of many 3D platformers on the system during that era, based directly on the Pixar film. You step into the role of Flik, an inventive ant trying to save his colony from a gang of bullying grasshoppers.
You control Flik through a series of levels, from the ant colony to the city and a bird's nest. Your main goal is to gather food and recruit the "warrior" bugs you mistakenly brought back. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping across platforms, collecting berries and seeds, and using Flik's inventions to solve puzzles. You also throw seeds to stun enemies or hit switches. The levels are linear and the challenge is generally mild, making it a straightforward adventure. It feels like a simple, cheerful trip through the movie's world.
