1080 TenEighty Snowboarding came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of the few serious snowboarding games on the console at the time, arriving in an era defined by polygonal 3D worlds and analog stick controls. While other games focused on over the top tricks, 1080 aimed for a more grounded feel on the slopes.

You control a snowboarder from a third person perspective, racing down mountains or competing in trick competitions. The main goal is to win races by navigating gates and to score points in half pipe events by landing combinations of grabs and spins. Two key mechanics are the use of the analog stick for pre wind up spins and the timing based landing system; you must press a button as you touch down to stabilize your board. The game is challenging, with tight courses and a physics system that punishes sloppy landings. It feels responsive and physical, a game where you learn the weight and momentum of each turn and jump.
