Zool – Ninja of the 'Nth' Dimension is one of those weird, flashy Genesis platformers that somehow sticks with you. You play as this hyperactive alien ninja blasting through candy-colored levels, bouncing off walls, and slicing up enemies with this weird spinning attack. The controls take a second to click—like, why does jumping feel so floaty?—but once you adjust, it’s oddly satisfying to just zip around.
The levels are packed with bizarre details, like enemies that look like sentient gumballs and platforms made of... I don’t even know, neon circuit boards? It’s got that early '90s "trying way too hard to be cool" vibe, but in a charming way. The music’s all synth and bass, and the difficulty spikes hard after the first few stages—classic Genesis move. If you’re into weird retro platformers with personality, this one’s a trip.
