Okay, so Zero The Kamikaze Squirrel is basically what happens when Aero the Acro-Bat had a weird cousin who got way too into ninja moves. It’s a Sega Genesis platformer where you play as Zero, a squirrel with a serious vendetta against deforestation—and also, his girlfriend Amy gets kidnapped (because of course she does).
The controls are floatier than Aero’s, which takes some getting used to, but once you figure out Zero’s dive-bomb attack, you start feeling like a tiny, furry wrecking ball. The levels are packed with those classic ‘90s platformer gimmicks—conveyor belts, disappearing platforms, enemies that exist purely to annoy you. And yeah, it’s not exactly breaking new ground, but there’s something charming about how hard it tries to be edgy with a squirrel protagonist.
If you’re into obscure mascot platformers, this one’s a weird little time capsule. Just don’t expect it to dethrone Sonic.
