If you grew up with Yu Yu Hakusho, this Sega Genesis fighter is pure nostalgia. It’s got all the crew—Yusuke’s Spirit Gun, Kuwabara’s goofy-but-deadly sword swings, Hiei’s speed, and Kurama’s rose whip—each with their own feel. The controls are simple (two buttons plus special moves), but matches get chaotic fast, especially with two players.
The sprites are chunky in that classic 16-bit way, and the stages pull straight from the anime, like the Dark Tournament arena. Soundtrack’s got that early ‘90s synth energy, complete with voice clips that somehow sound both muffled and hype. It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but nailing a Demon Fist combo or barely dodging a Spirit Wave still feels great.
Honestly, half the fun is picking Kuwabara just to yell his dumb battle cries along with him.
