Yuu Yuu Hakusho Gaiden is one of those weird little Japan-only spin-offs for the Genesis that never made it overseas. It's a side-scrolling beat 'em up where you pick from Yusuke, Kuwabara, or Hiei—no Kurama, which feels like a crime—and bash through waves of demons with basic punches and special moves.
The sprites are chunky but kinda charming, and the music nails that early '90s anime game vibe. It’s not as polished as, say, Streets of Rage, but there’s something fun about wrecking low-tier enemies with Hiei’s sword slashes. Just don’t expect much depth—it’s a quick, mindless romp for fans of the series.
If you’re into obscure anime games, it’s a neat curiosity. Otherwise, you’ll probably get bored after a few stages.
