Man, Yuu Yuu Hakusho - Makyou Toitsusen is one of those weird, chaotic fighting games from the Sega Genesis era that somehow just works. It’s based on the anime, so you get all the main characters—Yusuke, Hiei, Kurama—throwing energy blasts and swinging swords in this weirdly fun 2D brawler. The controls are simple, but the fights get wild fast, especially with the four-player mode where the screen turns into absolute mayhem.
What’s cool is how each fighter actually feels different—Hiei’s fast but fragile, Kuwabara’s got reach with his spirit sword, and then there’s Toguro just wrecking everyone with brute strength. The stages are straight out of the show, too, like the Dark Tournament arena. It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but if you grew up with the anime or just love old-school brawlers, this one’s a blast with friends.
Also, that soundtrack? Pure 16-bit hype. You’ll be humming it after a few rounds.
