Okay, so this is the old-school YuYu Hakusho fighting game for the Sega Genesis—finally in English, which is great because the original Japanese version was a pain to navigate if you didn’t know the menus. It’s basically a 2D fighter where you pick your favorite character from the anime (Yusuke, Hiei, Kurama, etc.) and throw down in some surprisingly fast-paced battles.

The sprites are chunky but full of personality, and the special moves actually feel like they’ve got weight to them—Hiei’s Dragon of the Darkness Flame looks legit terrifying even in 16-bit. The stages are straight out of the show, too, like the Dark Tournament arena or Genkai’s forest. It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but landing a well-timed Spirit Gun or pulling off Kurama’s rose whip combo just feels right.

If you grew up with the anime, it’s a nostalgia trip for sure. Just don’t expect Street Fighter-level depth—this is more about the vibe than technical play. Still, for a licensed game from that era, it holds up way better than most.
