Yoshi Touch & Go came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of those early DS titles that really tried to show off what the touch screen could do, arriving at a time when the system was still new and developers were experimenting with its features. The game feels like a direct extension of the tech demo philosophy, built around simple, immediate interactions rather than a long, complex adventure.

You control Baby Mario and Yoshi, but mostly you are drawing. In the first stage, clouds appear on the bottom screen and you use the stylus to quickly encircle enemies, creating bubble traps for them. You also draw cloud paths for Baby Mario to safely bounce along as he falls from the sky; the goal is to get him to land safely on Yoshi's back. Once he does, you switch to guiding Yoshi on the ground, drawing more cloud bridges over gaps and tapping enemies to make Yoshi throw eggs at them. The main objective is simply to travel as far as possible while keeping your vulnerable passenger safe. The pacing is relentless; you are constantly drawing and tapping, and one mistake can end your run. It feels like a frantic, tactile puzzle where your own quick sketches are your only tool for survival.
