X-Men Origins: Wolverine on DS is way more brutal than you’d expect from a handheld game—claws out, blood splatters, and Wolverine actually heals mid-fight like he should. You start off slashing through mercenaries in some jungle facility, and within minutes you’re ripping apart helicopters with bare hands. The combat’s simple but satisfying, mixing quick swipes with a rage mode that turns you into a blender.
It’s not just mindless hacking, though. There’s platforming bits where you sniff out hidden paths (yes, they made his sense of smell a mechanic) and some light puzzle-solving between the dismemberment. The story’s basically the movie plot but with extra mutants shoved in, and the graphics push the DS pretty hard—some jagged edges, but the animations sell Wolverine’s weight when he lunges. Just don’t expect deep RPG elements; this is pure, dumb fun with adamantium claws.
If you ever wanted to feel like an unstoppable mutant tank between bus rides, this does the job.
