About Wu Kong Wai Zhuan
Wu Kong Wai Zhuan is a Sega Genesis game that was never officially released outside of Asia. It was developed by Sega and published in 1995, a time when the 16-bit console was still home to many action platformers. The game is based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, putting you in the role of the Monkey King, Sun Wukong.
You control Sun Wukong through side scrolling levels, using his extending staff to attack enemies. Your main goal is to fight through stages, defeat bosses, and rescue your companions. The game features screen by screen exploration, where you clear all enemies in one area before moving to the next. You can collect power ups to enhance your staff's attack and find items to restore health. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with precise platforming required. Playing it feels like a methodical test of your timing and persistence.
