Wrestle War is that classic Sega Genesis wrestling game where the sprites are chunky, the moves are ridiculous, and someone always ends up getting suplexed into next Tuesday. You pick from a roster of wrestlers who look like they escaped from an 80s hair metal concert—my personal favorite is the guy who looks like he bathes in baby oil.
The controls take a second to get used to (why is the run button also the grapple button?), but once you figure out how to clothesline someone across the ring, it clicks. Matches get chaotic fast, especially when the AI decides to just whale on you nonstop. Not gonna lie, the referee looks like he’s just there for decoration—no disqualifications, no rules, just pure wrestling nonsense.
It’s janky, it’s loud, and it absolutely nails that over-the-top arcade wrestling vibe. You’ll either love it or throw your controller after the CPU reverses your finisher for the third time in a row.
