Alright, so this is the Sega Genesis version of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?—specifically the Brazil release with Spanish and Portuguese text. You play as a rookie detective chasing Carmen and her gang of thieves across the globe, which sounds simple until you realize how many obscure clues you’ll need to piece together.
First thing you’ll notice: the game throws you straight into it. You get a case file, a suspect description (like "wears a red hat" or "last seen in Tokyo"), and then you’re scrambling to check flight routes and alibis before time runs out. Mess up, and Carmen’s crew gets away with some priceless artifact—usually while mocking you in that smug, 16-bit way.
It’s surprisingly fun for an educational game, mostly because the locations and trivia feel legit. One minute you’re checking a suspect’s story in Buenos Aires, the next you’re confirming a stolen artifact’s origin in Cairo. Just don’t expect to win without a world map nearby—or at least some decent geography knowledge. The game doesn’t hold your hand.
If you grew up with this one, the nostalgia hits hard. If not, it’s still a clever little detective sim wrapped in a travelogue.
