Whac-a-critter Game

Whac-a-Critter on the Sega Genesis is exactly what it sounds like—a frantic, mallet-swinging mess of critters popping up faster than you can smash them. The first time I played, I thought it’d be easy, but by level three, those little guys were practically teleporting out of their holes.
The graphics are bright and cartoony, with just enough jank to remind you it’s a 16-bit era arcade port. Some of the critters even taunt you with goofy faces before vanishing, which, honestly, just makes you swing harder. There’s something weirdly satisfying about the thunk sound when you land a hit.
It’s not deep, but it’s the kind of game you fire up when you’ve got five minutes to kill—and then suddenly realize you’ve been whacking for half an hour. Just don’t blame me if your thumb’s sore afterward.
