Okay, so We're Back! – A Dinosaur's Tale on the Genesis is one of those weirdly charming licensed games that somehow doesn’t suck. You play as a bunch of dinosaurs—Rex, Dweeb, Elsa, and Louie—each with their own little quirks. Rex is your basic jumper, Dweeb’s got this weird stretchy neck thing, Elsa’s fast, and Louie… well, he headbutts stuff.
The first level throws you right into this colorful, slightly janky prehistoric New York, dodging pterodactyls and hopping on floating platforms. The controls take a second to get used to—some of the jumps feel a little floaty—but once it clicks, it’s oddly satisfying. And that soundtrack? Pure 90s cheese in the best way.
It’s not gonna dethrone Sonic or anything, but if you’re into forgotten platformers with personality, this one’s got a weird little charm to it. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand—some of those later levels get mean.
