About Wayne?s World
Wayne's World for the Sega Genesis, also known as the Mega Drive, was published by THQ in 1993. It arrived during a period when many games were based on popular movies and television shows, attempting to capture their audience on the 16-bit console. This title tried to translate the humor of the "Wayne's World" film into a side-scrolling action format.
You control Wayne and Garth, switching between them as you move through levels that represent locations from the movie, like the donut shop and the television studio. The main goal is to defeat enemies and bosses to prevent a corporate executive from taking over their public access show. Signature mechanics include using your guitar as a projectile weapon to attack foes from a distance and a two-player mode where a friend can join as the second character. The game moves at a brisk pace, but the difficulty can spike unexpectedly with enemy placements and platforming sections. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes chaotic run through a condensed version of the film's plot.
