Waterworld (europe) (proto) Game

Ever played that weird Waterworld prototype for the Sega Genesis? Yeah, the one based on the movie everyone kinda remembers for being a mess. It’s actually a bizarre little action-platformer where you’re Kevin Costner’s Mariner, jumping between sinking platforms and shooting at mutants with a harpoon gun. The controls are a bit stiff—classic 16-bit jank—but there’s something oddly charming about the way the water physics try (and fail) to feel realistic.
First few minutes, you’re just trying not to drown while some synth-heavy soundtrack blares in the background. The sprites are surprisingly detailed for an unreleased game, though the enemy designs look like they were scribbled in a hurry. If you’re into obscure retro curiosities, this one’s a trip—just don’t expect it to play like a lost gem.
