WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 on the DS is one of those games that somehow makes wrestling work on a tiny screen. You pick your favorite WWE star—or make your own janky-looking custom wrestler—and jump right into matches that are way more fun than they have any right to be on handheld hardware. The controls are simple (mostly button mashing, let’s be honest), but there’s something satisfying about hitting a chokeslam or a People’s Elbow on the go.
The roster’s packed with 2009-2010 era wrestlers, so expect to see Cena, Orton, and Undertaker doing their thing in pixelated glory. Story mode’s a bit thin compared to console versions, but it’s still weirdly addictive to climb the ranks in between bus rides. Just don’t expect the graphics to blow you away—this is a DS game, after all.
If you’ve got nostalgia for this era of WWE or just want a portable wrestling fix, it holds up better than you’d think.
