Virtua Fighter 2 on the Genesis was one of those games that made you feel like you were holding an arcade cabinet in your hands. The roster’s small but packed with personality—Akira’s got those brutal counters, Pai dances around like she’s untouchable, and Wolf? Yeah, he just picks people up and slams them. No fancy fireballs here, just pure, weighty martial arts.
What I love is how deliberate every move feels. Mash buttons, and you’ll eat a fist to the face. But time your blocks and counters right, and suddenly you’re the one juggling opponents in mid-air. The graphics are blocky by today’s standards, but back then, those polygonal fighters looked unreal. Still holds up if you ask me.
Best part? No flashy super moves to bail you out. It’s all footsies, spacing, and knowing when to throw a risky elbow. This is the kind of fighter that rewards patience—or just spamming Wolf’s suplex if you’re feeling lazy.
