About Valis Iii (japan) (rev A)
Valis III came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed and published by Riot. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling action games that filled the library, a direct sequel continuing the story from the previous titles.
You control three different heroines, Yuko, Valna, and Cham, switching between them on the fly. Your goal is to fight through a series of stages, defeating the monsters that have invaded the dream world. Each character has a unique weapon; Yuko uses her sword up close, Valna attacks with a long-range bow, and Cham fights with speedy short-range daggers. You explore levels screen by screen, dealing with enemies and platforming challenges, and you can find power-up items to strengthen your attacks. The game can be quite difficult, with aggressive enemies and precise jumps required. Moving through the vibrant, detailed levels with the ability to change characters gives the action a distinct and tactical rhythm.
