About Valis Iii
Valis III came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Riot. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling action games that felt like a natural fit for the console, sitting alongside titles that emphasized fast movement and vibrant graphics. You did not need a complicated backstory to get started; the game presented its world and expected you to jump right in.
You control one of three heroines, Yuko, Valna, or Cham, each with her own weapon like a sword or a whip. Your goal is straightforward: fight through stages to defeat the evil that has invaded the dream world. The gameplay involves moving screen by screen, clearing enemies before you can proceed. You can switch between the three characters on the fly, which is useful because they have different attack ranges and a unique screen-clearing special move.
