Unnecessary Roughness '95 is one of those weird, rough-around-the-edges football games from the Genesis era—not quite Madden, but not trying to be. The gameplay’s a little janky, the animations are stiff, and the AI makes some baffling plays, but there’s something oddly charming about it. You’ll fumble your way through awkward passes and questionable tackles, but once you get the hang of it, there’s a weird satisfaction in pulling off a messy touchdown.
It’s definitely a product of its time—don’t expect deep strategy or polished mechanics. But if you’re into retro sports games with personality (and a few glitches), this one’s got a weird appeal. Just don’t blame me when your running back suddenly decides to moonwalk into the end zone.
