Universal Soldier came out for the Sega Genesis in 1992, published by Accolade. You control Luc Deveraux, the character from the film, moving through side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to fight through enemy soldiers and mechanized units to stop a rogue Universal Soldier program. The gameplay involves running and gunning with a standard rifle, but you can also find and use a selection of special weapons like a flamethrower or a grenade launcher. These are limited, so you have to use them carefully. The game is structured level by level, with a boss waiting at the end of each one. It moves at a fast pace and the difficulty can be punishing, demanding quick reflexes to dodge enemy fire. Playing it feels like a constant, hectic scramble for survival.
