About Two Crude Dudes
Two Crude Dudes came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, a Data East release that fit right in with the era's appetite for side scrolling brawlers. It was one of many games vying for attention on the platform, offering a straightforward cooperative experience without much pretense.
You control one of two ex-marines, Duke or Rough, tasked with cleaning up a post alien invasion New York. Your main goal is to fight through waves of mutants and robots, moving screen by screen. A signature mechanic is your ability to pick up and throw almost any object in the environment, from barrels to defeated enemies themselves. You also use a variety of weapons, including a standard gun and more powerful pickups, to manage the crowds. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving, with cheap hits coming from off screen. Playing it feels like a chaotic, sometimes frustrating scramble where improvisation is your best tool.
