Two Crude Dudes is one of those weird, janky Genesis beat 'em ups that somehow works despite itself. You play as these two massive, steroid-fueled mercenaries (seriously, their sprites take up half the screen) smashing through a ruined New York overrun by biker gangs and mutants.
The controls feel a little stiff at first—your guys move like tanks—but once you realize you can pick up and throw entire cars, dumpsters, and occasionally enemies, it clicks. The levels are packed with destructible stuff, and there's something satisfying about clearing a street by just hurling a telephone booth through three guys at once.
It's not the deepest fighter, and the difficulty spikes hard around stage 3, but the sheer chaos of it makes up for the rough edges. Also, one of the dudes has a mullet. That’s important.
