True Lies on the Genesis is basically what happens when you take Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ridiculous action movie and turn it into a side-scrolling shooter. You start off blasting through a nightclub (because of course you do), dodging bullets and rescuing hostages who just stand there like they’re waiting for a bus. The controls are simple—run, jump, shoot—but the grenade arc takes some getting used to.

Some levels switch to this weird first-person mode where you’re defusing bombs or sniping enemies from a helicopter. It’s janky as hell, but in that nostalgic way where you can’t help but laugh when you accidentally blow yourself up. The music’s got that classic Genesis bass growl too, which somehow makes shooting guys in tuxedos feel even more dramatic.

It’s not the deepest game, but if you want to pretend you’re Arnold mowing down terrorists with a minigun, this’ll do the trick.
