Man, Troy Aikman NFL Football on the Genesis takes me back—this was one of those games where you could just feel the 90s oozing out of the pixels. You pick your team, line up, and immediately notice how weirdly smooth the passing feels compared to other football games from that era. Aikman’s got a cannon for an arm, obviously, but the real fun is in the little things, like how the running backs actually stumble when they get clipped from behind.
It’s not Madden-level deep, but the plays are straightforward enough that you’ll be calling audibles by halftime. And yeah, the graphics are blocky as hell by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about watching your tiny player break free for a touchdown while the crowd noise crackles through your TV speakers. If you’ve got a soft spot for old-school sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule.
