Triple Play '96 was one of those mid-90s baseball games that felt like a big deal when it came out—slick animations, decent commentary, and that classic EA Sports vibe before they went all-in on realism. The pitching mechanics were a little stiff, but I loved how the fielders would dive for catches in this exaggerated, almost cartoonish way. And yeah, the rosters are hilariously outdated now, but there's something charming about playing with those mid-90s lineups.
It runs fine on emulators, though the batting timing takes some getting used to if you're coming from modern games. The crowd noise still gets me—just this constant low-fi murmur that cuts out abruptly when the ball's in play. Weird little details like that make it feel like a time capsule.
