Toys Game

Man, Toys on the Genesis is one of those weird, charming platformers that just sticks with you. You play as this little toy soldier hopping through a kid’s bedroom—except everything’s oversized, like a board game turned into a level or a toy train you ride across. The controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to the jumps, it’s oddly satisfying to knock over dominoes or dodge those creepy wind-up teeth.
Some of the later levels get surprisingly tough, especially when the game throws spinning tops at you or makes you platform on floating alphabet blocks. The music’s got that classic Genesis synth sound, all bouncy and playful, which fits perfectly. It’s not the most polished game out there, but there’s something about the creativity here that makes it worth revisiting.
If you’re into retro platformers with personality, this one’s a hidden gem.
