Oh man, Toe Jam & Earl: Panic on Funkotron (or "Panic auf Funkotron" if you're playing the German version) is such a weird, wonderful shift from the first game. Instead of the roguelike exploration of the original, this one throws you into a 2D platformer where you're chasing down escaped Earthlings on your home planet.
The controls feel a little floaty at first, but once you get used to the way Earl belly-flops onto enemies or Toe Jam's weirdly satisfying slap attack, it clicks. The whole vibe is pure 90s funk—bright colors, squiggly alien landscapes, and this bizarre sense of humor where you're capturing humans who scream things like "I love cable TV!" before you stuff them in jars.
It's janky in that classic Genesis way, but the soundtrack alone makes it worth a play. That bassline still gets stuck in my head. If you're into oddball platformers with personality, this one's a trip.
