Man, ToeJam & Earl: Panic on Funkotron is just pure, unapologetic weirdness—in the best way possible. You’re back as those two funky aliens, but this time instead of exploring Earth, you’re chasing down escaped humans (who are now the annoying invaders) on your home planet. It’s a total flip from the first game, swapping roguelike exploration for side-scrolling chaos.

The vibe is ridiculous—bright colors, squiggly landscapes, and a soundtrack that’s basically a bassline with legs. You’ll be tossing tomatoes at humans, bouncing on trampolines made of… whatever Funkotron trampolines are made of, and occasionally breaking into a dance for no reason. Some of the gadgets are hit-or-miss (that slingshot feels a little janky), but the sheer personality makes up for it.

It’s not perfect—some levels drag, and the controls take a minute to click—but when it works, it’s like playing a Saturday morning cartoon from another dimension. If you’re into retro stuff that doesn’t take itself seriously, this one’s a trip.
