ToeJam & Earl Panic On Funkotron came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed and published by Sega. It was a time when platformers were everywhere, and this sequel took the two funky aliens in a completely different direction from their first adventure. Instead of the open world exploration of the original, this one was a side scrolling game set on their home planet.

You control either ToeJam or Earl, running and jumping across single screen levels to hunt down Earthlings who have stowed away on their spaceship. Your main goal is to find all the invading humans, trap them in jars, and then launch them back to Earth. Key mechanics include using presents that contain helpful or harmful items, and a special hyperfunk zone that lets you fly for a short time. The game is generally slower paced than many other platformers, focusing more on exploration and item use than on fast reflexes, though some of the later levels can get tricky. It feels like a strange and laid back scavenger hunt set to a funky beat.
