About The Super Shinobi Ii (earlier)
I first played The Super Shinobi II on the Sega Genesis in 1992. It was developed and published by Sega, a solid action platformer from a time when the console was full of games that demanded quick reflexes. It felt like a natural part of the library, a game you'd rent for the weekend and try to finish before Sunday night.
You control the ninja Joe Musashi, moving through stages screen by screen. Your main goal is to defeat the main antagonist, rescuing hostages and fighting bosses along the way. You use a sword for close combat and shurikens for attacking from a distance. The game requires you to explore each area carefully, looking for power ups and managing your limited supply of special ninja magic. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is unforgiving, with enemies attacking from all sides and instant death from bottomless pits. It feels tense and deliberate, a test of your patience and timing.
