About The Ren And Stimpy Show Presents Stimpy?s Invention
I picked up The Ren and Stimpy Show Presents Stimpy's Invention for the Sega Genesis back in 1993. It was published by Sega, and it fit right in with the era's wave of licensed platformers. You controlled either Ren or Stimpy, each with their own separate levels, which was a nice touch for a game based on the cartoon.
You run and jump through side scrolling levels, from the backyard to the inside of Stimpy's body. The main goal is to collect pieces for Stimpy's invention while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards. Signature mechanics include using Ren's slingshot or Stimpy's belly bounce to attack, plus a lot of screen by screen exploration where you search for hidden items. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with some tricky platforming sections. Playing it feels like a chaotic trip through the show's weirdest moments.
