About The Ottifants
I first played The Ottifants on the Sega Genesis back in 1993. It was developed by Graftgold Ltd., a name I recognized from a few other quirky platformers of that era. The game fit right in with the console's library of colorful, side scrolling adventures, though it definitely had its own strange charm.
You control Otto the Ottifant, a blue elephant like creature, navigating through a series of single screen levels. Your main goal is to collect musical notes scattered around each stage while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards. The gameplay involves a lot of careful jumping and pushing blocks to create pathways or to trap foes. Some stages require you to find and use specific items, like a key to unlock a door, which adds a small puzzle element. The pacing is quite methodical; you can't rush through, as the levels are compact and demand precision. It feels like a slow, deliberate puzzle platformer where a single mistake often sends you back to the start of the stage. Playing it is a test of patience and spatial awareness more than quick reflexes.
