Man, The Lion King on Genesis hits different. You start off as little Simba, bouncing around Pride Rock like an overexcited cub—then bam, suddenly you're dodging wildebeests in that terrifying stampede level (you know the one). The animation is shockingly good for a 16-bit game—watch Simba’s fur ripple when he runs, or how he stumbles after a big jump. And yeah, the music? Straight from the movie, so you’ll catch yourself humming "I Just Can’t Wait to Be King" while getting wrecked by hyenas.

It’s tougher than you’d expect, though. Those platforming sections with the monkeys? Brutal. But nailing a perfect ostrich ride or finally beating Scar’s lava phase feels so satisfying. Just don’t throw your controller when the log-rolling level gets you—again. This one’s a love letter to the movie, but it stands on its own as a solid, punishing platformer.
